The upcoming Chief Executive Election will be held on 25th March. This will affect all of the citizens of Hong Kong. One of the candidates, Henry Tang Ying-yen, has had his mistakes disclosed by the media many times. He has strayed in his love life for many years, expanded his house to make a wine cellar underground. Recently, there has been another rumour of him. That was Mr. Tang has an illegitimate child! He refused to answer the media’s questions and kept on being evasive on this rumour.
Based on all these rumours of Mr. Tang, I think his credibility and integrity are very low. He will never take the initiative to admit his mistakes unless the media disclose them. Besides, he passed the buck of the wine cellar to his wife. His wife wept in front of all the Hong Kong citizens on television, and Mr. Tang just stood behind her. He had never thought of protecting his dearest wife. I think it is unacceptable for him to put all the responsibility on his wife. This doesn’t mean he had no fault. For the rumour of the illegitimate child, if this isn’t the truth, why doesn’t he say something to clarify it? He evaded all the questions asked by the media and this raised doubts about his integrity. Therefore, I think Henry Tang Ying-yen is not trustworthy. Since he has hidden many things from the public and he is not responsible for his mistakes.
I prefer Leung Chun-ying most among the three candidates. Hong Kong is looking for a chief executor who has knowledge and capability to make Hong Kong a better place. Although Leung Chun-ying’s experience in government is not as rich as Tand Ying-yen’s, I believe he can make a change in Hong Kong. Barack Obama also had not much experience before becoming the US president but he has made changes in the US. This makes the US better than before. I think Mr. Leung can also do that. Moreover, Mr. Leung frequently visits Hong Kong citizens. This helps him to know more about what we really need. Mr. Leung’s public support consistently outranks the other two candidates by a wide margin so I think he is the best choice among the candidates.
Hong Kong needs a really suitable person to be the chief executor in order to make it a better place. I hope the chief executive can be voted by all Hong Kong citizens next time and there is not a ‘little circle election’ anymore.
